Hit me with your best shot

Hello! Keyon has been having some issues with hitting lately. Some days are really good, others we can't seem to find a punishment that will make this habit extinct. Usually when he is naughty and we are about to tell him no or that he should be doing something he either screams or takes a swing at one of us. Today Keyon and I were at the pool and he kept throwing the ball out of the pool. He likes to play games like this, like throwing a toy over the gate in the house and then whining because he can't get at it. Some major cause and effect experimentation going on here! Anyway, I told him no more or I would take the ball away. Well, guess what, he threw it against the fence again. So I took the ball away. I am such an evil stepmom. He through a fit. A complete tantrum in the middle of the kiddie pool with everyone watching. That has never really bothered me, because any parent who sees this going on can usually relate! Well he let out a scream and took a swing at me. I finally got him calmed down and explained to him once again the ball was to stay in the pool. Well he did get the ball back and went back on his merry way smiling and playing. Another parent came up to me a little while later and made me laugh. She says, "I was almost glad to see him hit you like that". What?! Apparently she is having the same problem with her near 2-year old who is hitting. She is at her wits end and it made her feel a little better that other children are the same. This is why temper tantrums do not embarrass me. I mean if you are not controlling your kid what-so-ever in the middle of Walmart that's another story. But sometimes you just have to let things run their course. Anyway, besides the pool incident today was pretty good. He was a little spit-fire all weekend though and Bob felt bad this morning leaving after wanting to pull his hair out last night with him. He can be quite the handful at times. I'm sure just another phase he is going through, but one always wonders why this happens immediately after he sees Heather. Hmmm... Not to draw any conclusions, but just makes you think. His little brain can't conceptualize everything and acting out may be his only way of dealing with it. Either way I still love him to death, even if he is abusing me at the public pool :-)

Just got done working out (yes, i am back on the wagon again..) and need to take a shower before heading to bed. Another fun filled day with my little man tomorrow!
